FK Audio Suite is a digital audio workstation for recording, production and mixing with real and virtual instruments. Its interface and workflow follow the established studio DAWs, so you feel at home quickly.

## What already works

Everything on this page runs today in the development version.

### Recording and editing

* Multitrack recording with mono, stereo, instrument, group and FX tracks
* Loop recording with takes and comping
* Clip editing: trim, fades, clip gain, glue, multi-select
* Unlimited undo
* Tempo, time signature and key tracks, metronome with count-in

### MIDI

* Key editor (piano roll) with quantize, velocity and controller lanes
* Chords by scale degree
* MIDI recording and import, MIDI learn, devices can be plugged in while running

### Mixing

* Mix console and inspector
* Group tracks (nestable) and FX tracks with pre/post sends
* Several automation lanes per track

### Plugins

* Built in: gain, EQ, compressor, limiter, distortion, a 16-voice synth and a sampler for SFZ instruments
* Hosts **VST3** and **LV2** plugins. Plugins are scanned in a separate process, so a faulty plugin cannot take the DAW down.

### Export

* WAV and FLAC, 16, 24 or 32 bit, the whole project or the loop range

## Platforms

* **Linux** first (tested on Ubuntu 24.04 with PipeWire/JACK or ALSA)
* **Windows** is planned
* macOS is not planned for now

## Free - really

The DAW costs nothing and has no feature limits. We earn our money with the optional [plugins](/en/plugins/), not with the DAW.
